Acre: the gathering of the ‘Franciscan family of Calabria’ in the Basilica of Sant’Angelo

ACRI (CS) – “Our hearts are still full of joy for what we experienced in last year’s regional gathering in Paravati, where together we started the “Centennial of the mature Francis” in the land of Calabria. What we experienced has strengthened the certainty of our being a family, in which each of us is called to a particular incarnation of the unique charism given to us.” “Strengthened by the gift received, we write to you once again jointly, to convene you again in this year in which we remember the impression of the signs of Crucified Love on our Seraphic Francis”.

The appointment is for tomorrow, April 25th at the Sanctuary “S. Angelo” in Acri (Cs), according to the following program:

– 09.30 am: Welcome;
– 10.00 am: Initial prayer presided over by Br. Rocco Predoti, OFM Conv. Provincial Definitor;
– 10.15 am: Speech by Br. Pietro Maranesi, Ofm Cap. on the theme: “The way of Brother Francis”;
– 11.30 am: Break and 12.00 pm: Dialogue with the speaker; 1.00 pm: packed lunch;
– 3.00 pm: Concert by the S. Chiara Choir of Taurianova (conducted by Maestro Giuseppe Arena)
– 4.00 pm: Eucharistic Celebration, presided by fr. Giovanni Loria, Provincial Minister Ofm cap.

Eight hundred years after the human story and the death of the saint of Assisi, his memory, full of a still valid evangelical message, remains alive and effective. The celebrations planned for the three-year period 2023-2026 therefore constitute a precious opportunity to retrace his Christian path to life and to experience the celebratory events of the eighth centenary not so much as acts of devotion to the saint, but as important opportunities to still believe in the path of the Gospel, as a good way to life.
