From Tuesday 23 April, students and workers who are already registered users on the WECITY app will be able to cycle again, earning CO2 coins to spend in the almost fifty accredited businesses.

In fact, the mobility voucher initiative is starting again until 15 June, which is part of the project “The Alto Milanese goes into sustainable mobility”, with which the municipal council helps to encourage travel by bicycle, scooter or on foot, and neighborhood trade.

The overall value of the mobility vouchers approved by the Legnano executive is equal to 6 thousand 657 euros, a sum that allows 200 new users to be added to the 600 already registered.

This means that from today workers or students over the age of 16 who live, work or study in Legnano can obtain accreditation by registering on the WECITY app, which they will have to activate during each journey from home to work and home to school and vice versa, to monitor the km traveled and accrue the credit, equal to 0.25 euros per kilometer traveled in a sustainable way. Also from today the deadlines open for commercial establishments to be accredited to use the mobility vouchers.

«We have managed to recover some resources from the ministerial funding and we are making it available to workers and students who, by moving in a sustainable way to reach their workplace or school, will be able to contribute to supporting the neighborhood traders of our city – underlines Monica Bern Nasca -. The ministry had conceived the mobility voucher initiative with multiple purposes: not only to encourage alternative mobility to that of private cars, benefiting the commercial businesses that joined the project, but also to trigger a virtuous mechanism in local communities whereby, once the vouchers have been exhausted allocated funds, the vouchers would be financed by the commercial operators themselves. My hope is that, given the good feedback, the initiative can continue with the help of our economic fabric.”

The possibility of earning mobility vouchers is extended until June 15th; the vouchers must be spent by the following day, Sunday 16 June.

In numbers, since the start of the initiative, a total of around 62 thousand kilometers have been cycled between high schools and individual workers/students; 55 thousand euros is the sum spent in the city’s commercial establishments.
