Syracuse basketball ‘sits in good spot’ with 4-star PG Tyler Jackson, who eyes visits

Syracuse basketball hosted 2025 four-star point guard Tyler Jackson from Baltimore on an official visit in late January of this year, and a national recruiting analyst says the top-40 national prospect is eyeing some additional visits.

The 6-foot-3 Jackson holds more than 15 offers from a range of high-major programs such as Auburn, Ole Miss, Indiana, Villanova, LSU, Old Dominion, Pittsburgh, Virginia Tech, California, Kansas, Alabama, Maryland, Illinois , Rutgers, Seton Hall, DePaul, George Mason, Georgia Tech, Rhode Island, Houston, Penn State, UCF, Mississippi State, Arizona State and Wake Forest, according to recruiting services.

He landed a scholarship offer from the Orange coaching staff around a year ago. To date, his only official visit is to the ‘Cuse, while Jackson has unofficially visited Auburn and Maryland, a hometown team.

Dushawn London, a national analyst with 247Sports, writes in a recent article that Jackson looks to take upcoming visits to Maryland again, along with Kansas and Ole Miss.

In the 2023-24 season as a junior, Jackson suited up in the Atlanta-based professional league Overtime Elite after previously starring at the Saint Frances Academy in Baltimore. In mid-March, he and his City Reapers teammates captured the Overtime Elite championship for this past term.

On the AAU circuit this spring and summer, Jackson will compete for the 17U squad of the Baltimore-based Team Thrill in the Under Armor Association league (“UAA”). Last July, he helped guide Team Thrill to a UAA title in the 16U division.

This past weekend, Jackson and Team Thrill participated in the MADE Hoops East Mania in Baltimore. Numerous national analysts and scouts praised Jackson for his play at this event. In a post on

Multiple recruiting Web sites, within the 2025 class, rank Jackson in the top 40 overall as well as in the top five at point guard/combo guard.

When I wrote this article on Tuesday, On3’s recruiting prediction machine had Syracuse basketball in the lead for Jackson, but that could likely shift as he takes more upcoming visits.

Recruiting analyst Sam Kayser, who runs the X account 24/7 High School Hoopsrecently discussed Jackson and other Orange 2025 targets in a great podcast interview with my guy Jackson Holzer, who hosts Locked On Syracuse.

Kayser acknowledges that Jackson’s recruitment could have a way to go, and while he doesn’t necessarily think that the ‘Cuse has a significant upper hand right now, the fact that Syracuse basketball has received his first and only official visit to date does stand out to the recruiting expert.

Kayser notes that a lot of suitors are reaching out to Jackson, although the Orange “sits in a good spot” with him for the time being.
