“Privatization cannot be imagined as the only solution. Strong action is needed to limit tax evasion”

We receive and publish below the press note of the candidate for mayor in Sanremo, Fulvio Fellegara.

“Today I met the representatives of FILT CGIL Ioanna Fabrizio, FIT CISL Privitera Antonio and UILTRASPORTI Parodi Enrico regarding the topic of RT.

I accepted their concerns for the disengagement of the Municipality of Sanremo which sold its shares at the end of 2023 in order not to face the recapitalization and for the business plan requested by the President of the Province Claudio Scajola which announces further cuts in services which will have a significant impact right on Sanremo, in the background the president raised the risk of bankruptcy for the company.

I reiterated my future commitment to maintaining the transport service in public hands. Privatization cannot be imagined as the only solution. It is the task of politics to preserve the management of the LPT: strong action is necessary to limit evasion. The proceeds from ticket sales were around 8 million before Covid and today they are reduced to 3 million. To carry out a significant recovery, an investment in controllers is needed and if necessary, as mayor I will also evaluate the availability of the police force near the stops. Also worrying is the approach of the rumored decommissioning of the Piazza Colombo bus station (with bar and ticket office) for which at the moment no alternative solutions have been foreseen.

Sanremo will have to do its part by considering recovering the quotas left a few months ago, a choice made incomprehensible by the recent announcement of a budget surplus of more than 10 million. Together it will be necessary for the Province to work on a business plan to protect the company and employment, involving all the municipalities interested in the service”.
