a concrete commitment for the improvement of the city of Barletta – BarlettaLive.it

“The itinerant work of the Public Works Commission continues, already begun in recent months with visits to the construction sites of Via Andria and Via Veneto, preparatory to the suppression of level crossings, at the Pala Disfida and the Sports Hall, at the Parco dell’ Humanity and at the construction site of the former distillery, where we are working hard on the differentiated users that will accommodate the weakest sections of society such as the elderly, the disabled and single mothers.

On April 16th we visited the Barletta cemetery, a sacred place for the entire city community. Here, we have drawn attention to several shortcomings present in the place; first of all, the problem concerning the brakes of the new iron stairs to reach the highest niches, located in the upper part of the same staircase and therefore difficult to operate especially for elderly people and those with mobility difficulties. By virtue of this, we have given a mandate to the office in charge to intervene quickly to resolve the problem. We have also taken steps to request the environment and urban decorum office to install dog waste bins, ashtrays for smokers and pay greater attention to the cleanliness of the places. On April 17th we went again to the construction site of the former distillery to check the progress of the work. On this occasion, the mayor Cannito, who strongly supported this important project, the designer and director of the works and the safety coordinator during the execution of the works, participated in the meeting.

The work done by the company and the technicians who showed us the floors where the respective accommodations will be built, still in the embryonic phase, which appear very welcoming and dignified, was excellent. The director of the works reassured us that the work will be ready by the end of the year, without neglecting our continuous monitoring of the progress of the works. On April 18th we went to Villa Bonelli, a place of great historical and cultural interest in our city. The manager and the councilor for public works were present at the meeting and we asked them to pay attention to the place which is already the subject of financing from Pnrr funds and which requires important interventions. Here, already last month, we had benches installed under the shaded part of the villa which many citizens, especially elderly people, had requested for some time, who stigmatized their absence along this part of the complex. We will continue with great enthusiasm our itinerant visits to all the places in the city that require concrete attention and interventions from politicians and, we will not tire of collecting all the requests that come from our fellow citizens”.

For us this is the policy of doing, conclude the President of the Public Works Commission Flavio Basile, the vice President Adelaide Spinazzola and the member councilors Giovanni Ceto, Letizia Rana and Rosa Tupputi.
