“The poor governance of healthcare is perceived by all citizens”

The topic of healthcare in Urbino is always particularly “hot”. The Democratic Party of Urbino, through the intervention of its secretary Giorgio Ubaldi, intervenes on the topic, responding to the declarations of Maurizio Gambini published yesterday in these columns. The mayor had criticized the Democratic Party for two fundamental things: never having fought to convene the Assembly of Mayors of the Vast Area (after the presidency passed from him to the President of the Province, Giuseppe Paolini) to discuss the structure of the health system and of not having prevented the transfer of the headquarters of the Vast Area from Urbino to Fano.

“Here, they have always remained here, the councilors of the Democratic Party of Urbino – replies Giorgio Ubaldi –. Even twenty days ago we asked her about Doctor Magalotti’s Breast Unit which is scheduled for 22 December 2023 but she said “everything is fine. That’s it. that the patients go to Fano for surgery.” The soldiers are on her side since they do everything she says without saying a word. Never heard or read a speech that wasn’t hers. To exploit is to say that our hospital is increasingly penalized ? Less money, less staff, less healthcare equipment. Instead of talking with the old Regional Council because you had a serious and recognized contact person, today you talk to the regional councilor who was disheartened by your own party? Or your tutor? with Acquaroli? Ah, I forgot councilor Baldelli, the one who is bringing the new machinery to Pergola. And have the chains he used to chain himself with rusted along with the padlock?”.

Ubaldi insists: “Wasn’t it she who, once the Region was won, would have brought the Vast Area back to Urbino? Which among other things no longer exists (the reference is to the Vast Area, ed.), the conference of mayors has replaced”.

Ubaldi rejects all accusations against the sender: “Accrediting responsibility to others is cowardly and cowardly behaviour. Mayor Gambini has now governed the city of Urbino for ten years and almost four years since a centre-right regional council has governed the Marche region The results of this nefarious administration are now clear for all to see and have an impact on the citizens’ perception of health workers, of a progressive dismantling of public health services. Compared to 2023, Ast of Pesaro Urbino has 31 million euros less on the budget. And we haven’t heard a word from him on the matter. The regional health reform, heralded from the rooftops from 2022, is producing dramatic consequences throughout the region on hospitals, local health services and on the provision of care and of assistance for the population. In the province of Pesaro Urbino in particular, the management of the territorial health company, due to this unfortunate reform, is in disarray: it is not even possible to find a stable and lasting management (in sixteen months alternating two commissioners and a general director and from May 1st it is not yet known who will take on this dedicated task). You say that you found a calm and collaborative atmosphere, after a week the general director took early retirement, followed by the resignation of the director of Ast 1 Pesaro and Urbino; we’re ridiculous. We need to organize hospitals and local health services. We need to hire staff and invest in quality of care! Instead, everywhere we are proceeding only to open construction sites. The effects of healthcare misgovernment are now felt by everyone and are tragically taking place in real time. Commitments are not kept and over time the consequences will be dramatic. It’s time for those who lead the Municipality and the Region to take their responsibilities seriously without propaganda.”

Giorgio UBaldi concludes: “Reversing the trend of decline is not an electoral slogan but is a fundamental civil and political battle for the well-being of the entire population”.
