ANCONA – Despite the cold and the weather which continues to be disturbed «no booking cancellations have yet been received in the hotel facilities of the Marche» for the spring long weekends (25th April and 1st May). He confirms it Emiliano Pigliapoco, regional councilor of Federalberghi Confcommercio Marche. The trade association speaks of “a greater number of bookings compared to the same period last year”, a figure that gives rise to hope.
It is clear that the weather factor could affect bridge tourism with last minute cancellations “in case the weather does not hold up, but for now no rainfall or phenomena that could discourage departures are forecast for Thursday”.
Occupancy forecasts in hotels for now are around 70-80%, a figure which with the complicit weather can only improve” thanks to the 4.1 million Italians who will move between 25 April and 2 May (national Federalberghi estimate ), it should be noted that the people of Ancona, thanks also to the patronal holidays (San Ciriaco), will even be able to extend the bridge until May 4th. «We expect that there will be a lot of people around – says Pigliapoco – and many will also arrive in the Marche».
Surprisingly, thanks to the snow that fell on the Sibillini, the ski facilities in Bolognola and Frontignano reopened over the past weekend, and with new rainfall in sight, the long weekend of April 25th could still offer some descents on the slopes. Therefore, attendance forecasts for the ski resorts of the Marche and the hinterland are also good.
«Compared to last year – continues Pigliapoco – we expect a greater turnout in hotel facilities of around 10%». But what type of welcome does the tourist who arrives in the Marche look for? «Hotels with wellness centers are the most popular – he explains – due to the desire to break the routine and then the structures present in cities, villages, on the coast and immersed in places in contact with nature» he concludes.
