BUSTO ARSIZIO – «Ready! Here is the secretariat of the President of the Republic». A surprise phone call to Tommaseo primary school of Busto Arsizio. Imagine the amazement of the secretary who immediately passed the communication on to principal Cristina Parisini. A phone call in the name and on behalf of Head of State, Sergio Mattarellato express appreciation towards the fourth graders who, within the hours of civic education, they had written a letter to the President with questions, suggestions and Easter wishes.

The phone call

A surprise which, they write in a note from the Istituto Comprensivo Tommaseo, «it covered an ordinary afternoon with light» at the school in via Sanzio, in the Frati district of Busto. «An unexpected phone call» admits the principal. In fact, there was on the other end of the phone the secretary of the Secretariat Office of the President of the Republic who «called in the name and on behalf of the Head of State, the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella».

The letter

Everything was born «on the occasion of Day of National Unity, of the Constitution, of the anthem and the flagwhen these themes were addressed both in terms of their origin and today’s value action – they say from the Tommaseo school – among other things it was presented the role, function and identity of the President of the Republic». Following this civic education activity, the fourth grades of primary school «they wrote, with the participation of each child, a letter to President Mattarella in which they expressed their appreciation for what he does and represents, formulated questions and suggestions, and took the opportunity to express their Easter greetings.” The letter was regularly sent to the Quirinale with signatures and children’s drawings and it reached its destination, complete with follow-up phone call for the children and the entire school community. «President Mattarella’s appreciation is appreciated for the commitment to the study and in-depth study of the symbols of Italy and the initiatives of our comprehensive school».

The meeting on April 25th

The episode was made known on the eve of another initiative by the Tommaseo Institute, which this time concerns the Prandina middle school. Is titled “Freedom is participation: Impressions of a partisan” and will be held tomorrow, Wednesday 24 April, from 10 am at Molini Marzoli, with third year students and their teachers. «It will be an event to reflect together on the universal values ​​of freedom and opposition to dictatorships and war». The lawyer will intervene as speakers Liberto Losa, president of ANPI of Busto Arsizio, who will talk about the important role played by our city on the day of Liberation and in the years of the Resistance, the architect Carlo Valentini, historic group leader of the Busto 1 Scout Associationwho will talk about the creation of the OSCAR association and the subsequent activity and, finally, Mr Umberto di Donato (Founder and Director of the Typewriter Museum of the Metropolitan City of Milan) who will illustrate the manuscript he found and published with the title “Impressions: Sentiments of a partisan”.
