TREVISO – New regulation for access to municipal nursery schools and new clash between the city councilor Giorgio De Nardi and the mayor Mario Conte, always on the topic of nursery schools and nursery schools. The document will arrive in the commission next week and in the city council on April 30th: it will bring some significant changes.

THE STAKES

The first: the possibility of taking advantage of the extension of time to keep children in the two municipal structures beyond school hours goes from a cost of 20 to 50 euros per month. However, compared to the past, membership will be quarterly, therefore renewed every three months. «We have made some very technical changes to facilitate organization and information for families – he explains the Social Councilor Gloria Tessarolo – regarding the extension, the real novelty is the quarterly membership, rather than annual, which makes it easier for families to organize. Then we adjusted the cost, which was still lower than other services, bringing it to 50 euros per month.” News also from the front ofIsee, used as a criterion for making the rankings. A preferential channel, with higher scores, has been left for families with greater economic difficulties: «The ISEE – continues the councilor – is the criterion that we make prevail for the same time and day of registration. So if today two people submit the application at 4pm on the same day, the one with ISEE prevails inferior (previously only the time parameter was valid ed.). Furthermore, we have created, as already exists for primary schools, the expression of preference with the first choice and the second choice between the different sections and structures, so parents know where they are positioned for enrollment and can make more focused choices based on to their needs.”

SPARKS

On the political front, however, De Nardi attacks the mayor head-on and the administration accusing it of not wanting to invest in new nurseries and childcare facilities, preferring instead to give more money to private facilities: «In Treviso, 84 thousand inhabitants, the Conte council has chosen to do not commit to our children and their parents, despite the Pnrr offering the money to do so. He believed that it was not necessary and too complicated to build and manage an additional nursery school, preferring to increase subsidies for private nursery schools with funds from an already asphyxiated budget. Yet we are not talking about designing a thermonuclear fusion power plant. In Treviso there are municipal nursery schools excellent, but they are simply few, we just need to increase them.” Conte’s reply was dry: «Once again De Nardi wrong. He accuses us of not investing in facilities for children, but perhaps he forgets about the nursery school we are building at Monigo. That probably doesn’t matter to him. Furthermore, in addition to our two nursery schools, we also support the parish ones and it is no small effort. I almost lost hope with De Nardi, but I’m always available to explain everything to him again».
