The Ginko social cooperative is thinking of opening a shop in the Maria Assunta district of Merano

The general meeting of the members of the Ginko social cooperative was an opportunity to look back on a 2023 full of successes and look forward, no longer as if it were a mirage, to the opening of the shop in the Maria Assunta district. The end of 2024, in fact, will finally see the doors of the “shop of knowledge and flavors” open.

President Elda Dalla Bona and vice-president Julia Dalsant showed great satisfaction with the activity carried out by the social cooperative in 2023: numerous and varied events were organized in the neighbourhood. Some collaborations continued into 2024 and new ones started. «The great success of the recent event “The art of bread”, in collaboration with Urania Merano and the Women’s Museum of Merano well represents the spirit of Ginko: with its aggregative and inclusive value, as well as “tasty practical”, it has given confirmation of our constant commitment to a lively and human city» it was explained in a note.

«We’ve made a name for ourselves in the neighborhood and people are starting to trust us. We are now focused on opening the store in the fall. The renovation works are underway and the collaboration with IPES and the responsible architect Russo is now working excellently» underlines president Dalla Bona.

«We still have a lot of work to do. The interior of the shop needs to be furnished and we are defining the range of products to be put on sale. The time will soon come for the training of volunteer sales staff. The lively participation in the general assembly shows us how great the interest of our members is. We are very proud of it» adds Vice President Julia Dalsant.

The grocery store in the Maria Assunta neighborhood is expected to open at the end of the year. Ginko will return to the neighborhood as a local shop but not only that, at the same time it will be a place for exchanging experiences and knowledge.
