Forlì’s appeal rejected: Carpi remains at +4 on Ravenna Sport

Repelled with losses. This is Forlì’s appeal against the 2-1 scored by the pitch in the Cabassi match, in which the Romagna contested the use of Tommaso Cecotti by the red and whites. Footballer according to Forlì disqualified following the cancellation of the match between Carpi and Pistoiese. A request that the sports judge deemed unfounded, rejecting the appeal of the Romagna players – who were also charged the fee for the appeal presented – and above all validating the 2-1 of the pitch. Which leaves the ranking unchanged, with Carpi 4 points ahead of Ravenna second in the class and who will have their first match-ball in Imola on Sunday to close the championship (with a victory).

In particular, the sports judge “found that the aforementioned footballer (Cecotti, ed) following the outcome of the third return day of the Serie D National Championship, group D, a one-match disqualification was imposed for “recurrence of a warning” as per CU no. 80 of 23 January 2024 and that this disqualification was served on the following day, played on 28 January 2024, in which he was not present on the list in the Pistoiese-Carpi match, which ended with the result of 2-3″. Therefore, according to the ruling of the sports judge, “the footballer Cecotti actually served the sanction of the disqualification of a match and did so in the same competition in which he committed the infringement, whereas the interpretation proposed by the complainant would require him to serve the disqualification again sanction and this, due to a provision of renunciation or exclusion imposed on a club other than the one with which the player is registered and in no way attributable to the latter”.

Translated, it means that Cecotti had actually served the disqualification in a championship match considered valid for the purposes of disciplinary measures, the only result of which was subsequently annulled by the Lnd due to Pistoiese’s shortcomings. To confirm this interpretation, the judge also confirmed a one-day disqualification for the red and white captain Calanca due to the ten warnings received in the championship, including one in the first leg match against Pistoiese. Regularly counted therefore from a disciplinary point of view.

The comical part – or more serious from another point of view – of the story lies in the fact that Forlì itself fielded the footballer Riccardo Gaiola at Cabassi on Sunday, who like Cecotti had served one of the three match suspensions he had been given were given after the red against Borgo San Donnino on the 22nd matchday… against Pistoiese. A legal loop for which “credit must be given” to the Forlì company, which succeeded in requesting a sanction against an opponent “guilty” of having engaged in the same conduct. Not satisfied, Forlì today presented a new appeal against the sports judge’s ruling, appealing to the FIGC’s National Sports Court of Appeal. Timing: Forlì has submitted a request for access to the documents and from the moment it receives them it will have 24 hours to formalize a complete appeal to the Court of Appeal. From the moment the second instance federal judge receives the appeal, he will have another 24 hours to call the hearing on the first available working day. It goes without saying that April 25th is involved, so the risk of going until after Imola for a definitive verdict is real. Carpi may also be present in the courtroom with his lawyer.
