Milan, the verdict is imminent: decisive Italian Cup

Very tough week for Milan after the defeat against Inter and the Nerazzurri’s Scudetto celebrations. For the Rossoneri there is one remaining objective to achieve. Here’s what could happen

One of the worst weeks of the Rossoneri’s history, one that began last Thursday with the elimination in the Europa League against Roma and continued with the sixth consecutive knockout in a Derby that gave Inter the second star’s Scudetto.

After a very promising month and a half with seven victories in a row, Milan crumbled in mid-April, prematurely ending a season that could have held much more satisfaction.

There are five games left to play in the championship, useful at least to consolidate second place. We start next Saturday against Juventus, third at -5. A challenge that Milan will face without three disqualified players: Tomori, Hernandez and Calabria.

We will then continue with two home matches at the beginning of May against Genoa and Cagliari. On May 19th, the last away match against Torino before the conclusion against Salernitana, the following week at San Siro.

Milan, Italian Super Cup goal: here’s what could happen

Second place in the Serie A standings will guarantee Milan the participation in the next edition of the Italian Super Cup, the second consecutive one to be played with the final four formula. The Italian champions Inter, the second place in the league and the two Italian Cup finalists will participate.

Milan currently has a 5-point advantage over Juventus awaiting next Saturday’s direct clash. Pay attention, however, to the result of the Bianconeri in the return semi-final of the Italian Cup against Lazio scheduled for tonight.

In fact, if Juve, strong from the 2-0 in the first leg, were to reach the final and finish second in the championship, at the Even a possible third place would be enough for Milan in Serie A to qualify for the Super Cup.

Calculations aside, Milan have the duty to achieve at least second place. It would be the second time with Pioli on the bench after the 2020-21 season, which marked the Rossoneri’s return to the Champions League after 7 years of absence.
