PAOLONI, WOUNDED OFFICERS ARE NO LONGER NEWS

«The news of officers injured during football matches seems to have now become normal and no longer causes a sensation. The escalation of episodes of violence that we have been reporting for some time continues unabated without any drastic interventions having been taken. All this undermines not only the spirit of the ideals that should characterize sporting events, but also the safety of law enforcement officials and all sportspeople who have nothing to do with these criminals”. This was stated by the General Secretary of the SAP, Stefano Paoloni, following the clashes before the Salernitana-Fiorentina match, where ten agents were injured, three of whom were taken to hospital. Also on Sunday 21 April, other moments of tension were recorded during the Pescara-Ancona match and at the end of the match a policeman and a financier hit by a paper bomb were taken to the emergency room. «Urgent interventions are needed, such as the provision of a lifetime Daspo for violent subjects»he added Paoloniremembering that «also for this reason on May 15th, in Rome, the SAP has organized a public meeting with political representatives of the majority and opposition to debate effective solutions. Marisa Grasso and Fabiana Raciti will also participate in the event, wife and daughter of Inspector Filippo Raciti, who in 2007 lost his life outside the Angelo Massimino in Catania, for which we asked for a Day in memory of him against violence in stadiums. SAP’s solidarity and best wishes for a speedy recovery go to all injured colleagues.”.
