Saying and contradicting, the Vibo students protagonists of the event promoted in Reggio

The Campanella national boarding school in Reggio Calabria hosted an intense intellectual competition: the territorial phase of the dispute “Telling and contradicting” IV edition. This event, promoted by the Council of the Bar Association of Reggio Calabria, is the result of an important protocol signed between the National Bar Council and the Ministry of Education, which aims to promote debate and the development of argumentative skills among high school students in the region. The boys challenged each other with arguments and counter-arguments, lThe “Galilei” economic technical institute in Vibo Valentia, the “Galluppi” classical high school in Tropea and the “Berto” scientific high school in Vibo who represented the Coa of Vibo Valentia, while the “Galluppi” Classical High School in Catanzaro (Coa of Catanzaro); the Campanella classical high school (Coa of Reggio Calabria). The schools in the Vibo area have demonstrated excellent preparation and a persuasion ability worthy of praise.

After a heated competition, the “Galilei” of Vibo Valentia, the “Galluppi” of Tropea and the Liceo “Berto” fly to the semi-finals. Their performance was exceptional, characterized by a mastery of the topics, impeccable logic and persuasive communication skills that impressed the jury and the audience present. There was a preliminary selection of the nine participating children through a competition that took place in March between the three schools in the province of Vibo Valentia. «What has been achieved – explain the teachers – is not only a success for the school itself, but also a recognition of the hard work of the students, teachers and the support provided by the entire school community. This triumph demonstrates that education is not just a matter of knowledge learned, but also of soft skills such as critical thinking, the ability to communicate effectively and self-confidence.” «Saying and contradicting – it should be noted – represents a valuable opportunity for students to develop these vital skills, which will be fundamental to their future success, both academic and professional. At the same time, it promotes values ​​such as respect, tolerance and civil discussion of ideas, essential elements for building an inclusive and democratic society. It is important to underline the importance of the participation of all the institutions involved. Each team contributed to making the event a stimulating and educational experience for all participants. In conclusion the next semi-finals, which will be held online and will involve the southern regionswill compete with central and northern Italy on a date to be established, without prejudice to the fact that this edition was a success on all fronts, highlighting the talent, commitment and passion of Calabrian students in the art of debate and persuasion .
