ROSOLINA (Rovigo) – Last Monday morning, staff of the Internal Water Team of Porto Tolle Public Safety Police Stationas part of the control services of the river-lagoon area of the province of Rovigo, aimed at guaranteeing safety during navigation, proceeded with the control of a professional fishing vessel on the Po di Venezia riverin the municipality of Rosolina (Rovigo).
The operators, during the activity, noticed aboat without identifying marks and, becoming suspicious, they proceeded to check it.
From the first investigations, the lack of licenses, on-board and safety equipment, such as fire extinguishers, red light hand lights, red star hand signals, compass, life jacket and oars, as well as the insurance certificate.
Following a more in-depth check, the police also found that the nautical unit was equipped with an outboard engine with a power almost three times higher than the maximum limit established by the commander’s qualification.
At the end of the check, the police officers have reported in a state of freedom at the Public Prosecutor’s Office at the Court of Rovigo on fisherman, in competition with theshipowner – as a person other than the person arrested – for the offences, in the accusatory hypothesis, of navigation in violation of safety regulations (art.1231 navigation code) and departure of a ship in a poor state of navigability (art.1215 navigation code). The Rovigo Public Prosecutor’s Office requested and obtained preventive seizure for the vessel.
There were also high administrative sanctions for lack of insurance certificate, documentation relating to the nautical unit, for the absence of its identifying signs and, finally, for driving a boat with an outboard engine with a power exceeding 40.8 hp, without the appropriate qualification.
