MODENA. The event continues on Tuesday 23 April snowfall which is involving the provincial territory, in particular throughout the upper Apennines above a thousand meters above sea level, with accumulate over 30 centimeters in the area of Passo delle Radici, Frassinoro, Montefiorino, in the area of Sestola, Fanano, as well as in the area of Montese and Zocca.
The provincial road network is currently entirely passable and provincial staff are working to remove branches that have fallen onto the roads due to the accumulation of snow.
In the evening, the Province’s vehicles will then be at work salting the roads at greatest risk of night-time frosts, as well as continuing with the cleaning operations of the road network, which is currently entirely passable.
To keep the network of over 900 kilometers of provincial roads clean, this year the Province has 165 vehicles, 115 of which are snowplows, all from private companies with an agreement; of these 62 are in the mountains and 53 in the plains.
There are 27 salt spreaders (13 in the mountains and 14 in the plains), plus nine owned by the Province, as well as 14 “combined” vehicles, i.e. both snow plows and salt spreaders; to these are added two turbines owned by the Province generally used to keep the provincial roads open on the ridge in the Frassinoro area, in particular at the Radici pass.
