‘Segn’Arte’ is underway, the initiative to discover the area with sign language

«Trekking, excursions, beauties to discover and an area rich in history and culture to promote are part of this project» underlined the Alis president, Stefano Notari. «The initiative was born after the first autonomous participation of the Ens in some of our experiences – said Eleonora Bonoli of the same social coop». Different areas of the province of Terni will be involved. First appointment on May 5th at Prati di Stroncone.

‘Segn’Arte’ The planned guided experiences aim to «promote a new circuit of visits to the historical, artistic and naturalistic assets of the city of Terni, smaller towns and neighboring municipalities through routes and itineraries capable of combining sustainability and knowledge of local beauties. This – explain the organizers – through an inclusive and active participation process through which it will be possible to learn information that is not immediately available – designed primarily for deaf people in the area but naturally open to the rest of the population”. In fact, during the outings there will also be Lis interpreters to better involve everyone. «Essential from this perspective is the collaboration of the national partner Deaf Ets Aps – provincial section of Terni, which not only co-planned the activities but will also have the important role of conveying the project in the context of the community of deaf people in Umbria and the surrounding regions.” The complete calendar will be shared on the Alis cooperative social channels.

Inclusivity Furthermore, the main destinations of the project will be told in short videos translated into Lis, which will be disseminated through the Alis tourist site and through social channels, «in order to propose a first experiment in creating content that deaf people will be able to enjoy in full autonomy during your tourist and travel itineraries. The characteristic of these videos will be that they will not be produced exclusively in sign language but, in order to make them accessible to all types of deaf people – whether they sign or not – the relevant subtitling will also be included as well as the insertion of a voice narrating so as to make the videos accessible to all tourists, visitors or simply curious people”.
