The city of Arezzo is preparing to commemorate another anniversary of the Liberation with an event that promises to be a meeting point between historical memory and international solidarity. On April 25, 2024, the Villa Severi Park will become the scene of the “Liberation Festival”, a now traditional event which this year will have an even deeper meaning with the inclusion of a message of peace for Palestine.
With Palestine in my heart The day will begin at 10:00 with a symbolic walk and readings on the sites of the San Polo massacre, offering participants the opportunity to reflect on the atrocities of war and the importance of peace and freedom. The rally will be in front of the CAS of Villa Severi.
Social Lunch and Photographic Exhibition Following this, at 1.00 pm, there will be a social lunch, a moment of sharing and community, for which participants are invited to book as soon as possible as places are running out. It will be possible to visit the photographic exhibition “Nazi-fascist massacres in Arezzo. The places of memory”, which will open a glimpse into painful but fundamental pages of our history.
Music and Memory In the afternoon, from 2.30 pm, the program will continue with the music of DJs Mr. Ceks, Mitla, Levo, Rat Race Crew and Hang DJ, who will curate a set capable of combining art, memory and hope, in a celebration that it extends from the memory of the past to the promises of the future.
The organizing committee, promoted by ARCI, ANPI, Oxfam Italia and Aurora, invites the citizens of Arezzo to participate in this important event. The “Liberation Day” is not only a memory of what has been, but also a warning for the future and a gesture of solidarity towards all the peoples who are still fighting for their freedom.
