Great participation and notable results in the athletics meeting held in Rimini

More than two hundred young athletes took part on the afternoon of Saturday 20 April in the provincial phase of the youth athletics club championships, an event held on the track and platforms of the “Romeo Neri” Stadium in Rimini, and organized by Atletica Libertas Rimini, in collaboration with other companies in the Province.

Girls and boys born between 2009 and 2012 competed in running, walking, jumping and throwing competitions, which recorded various results of notable technical importance.

This is the case of Greta San Martini, representative of Olimpus San Marino, able to win both the 80 meter dash and the triple jump among the cadets, respectively with a “chrono” of 10″1 and with a measurement of 10, 95 meters.

Also from the triple jump platform came an excellent result in the men’s field, the 12.55 meters achieved by Alessandro Gozzi, a cadet at Rimini Nord Santarcangelo.

For the organizing company of Libertas Rimini, the best ranking result was the third place achieved in the girls’ 60 meters hurdles by Arwa Ragoubi, with a time of 11″0.

Present at the event were the Councilor of the Municipality of Rimini Francesco Bragagni and the Provincial Coni delegate Rodolfo Zavatta, who awarded the prizes to the first three classified in each race.

A particularly important and touching moment was the one that awarded the Sandra Sabattini and Filiberto Pioppo Memorial cups, which went to the winners of the 80 meter cadet and the boys high jump, respectively Greta San Martini, of Olimpus, and Ismaele Hamouchan , of Rimini Nord Santarcangelo, winner with the measurement of 1.36 metres.

These two awards ceremonies, which were attended by the President of Atletica Libertas Rimini Oreste Livi and some of Sabattini’s friends and training partners, wanted to remember the young Libertas Rimini athlete Sandra Sabattini, strongly involved in the “Papa Giovanni XXIII” Association of Don Oreste Benzi, who died in 1984 at just 23 years old in a road accident and proclaimed a saint in 2021, and the Vice-President of the Polisportiva Libertas Rimini Filiberto Pioppo, who passed away in 2022, at the end of a life dedicated to athletics as a manager and as a valid athlete of Olimpia Amatori Rimini.
