The handwritten sign, enriched with historical photos and old newspaper articles, conveys a touching message of gratitude towards the customers who have supported the store with love and friendship over the years: “At this very sad time, we thank all the customers who in these 103 years have supported us with affection And friendship. THANK YOU!!” A difficult farewell for the owners Carlo And Michele who have tried over the years to resist the challenges imposed by competition from large-scale retail trade and e-commerce.

Already in August of 2022, the starters had launched a appeal at the citizenship putting most of the products inside the shop at half price in order to encourage citizens to support small shops. The situation in ‘Podrecca’ worsened in 2020 with the advent of COVID-19 and closures imposed by the Government for long periods. As they had already stated at the time, the increase of the costs from the bills it was the most important burden to bear.
