The municipal administration, in collaboration with local associations and with the school board “History belongs to us” celebrates the 79th anniversary of the Liberation.
The program of celebrations, opened on Friday 19 April in the Tramogge room with a conference entitled “Tikkum Olam mending the world – responsibility, justice, peace” in which, among others, Rossana Ottolenghi (heir to the testimony of Becky Behar, survivor) participated of the Meina massacre) and Maite Billerberck (great-granddaughter of Hans Roehwer, SS officer who gave the order for the massacre), continues tomorrow, Tuesday 23 April at 10 am in the Sala Ali della Libertà in Piazza Trento e Trieste where it is scheduled the screening of the documentary “The invisible city: Busto Arsizio resistant city” produced by a group of students from the Fiorini – Pantani Institute with the aim of summarizing and disseminating the history of the Resistance and the war of national liberation at a local level.
The students carried out historical research with the collaboration of Anpi and the Alfredo Di Dio partisan group, taking care of all parts of the documentary: from writing the script to acting, from filming to editing. The product is part of the broader project of the Institute’s Digital Educational Museum through which students have the opportunity to reflect on the history expressed in the local area.

“24 April 2024” is scheduled for Wednesday 24 April at 10.00 in the Sala Tramogge dei Molini Marzoli, a meeting with Liberto Losa (president of the Anpi) and Umberto di Donato (director of the typewriter museum): the event is organized of the Tommaseo Institute.
This is the program:
– Institutional greetings from the Headmaster, Prof. Cristina Parisini, from the representatives of the municipal administration and from the other authorities present.
– “The places of the Resistance in Busto Arsizio”, speaker Lawyer Liberto Losa – President of Anpi of Busto Arsizio;
– “Stray Eagles-Oscar: story of a peaceful resistance”, speaker Arch. Carlo Valentini – scout leader and witness of the events;
– “Cardo Dozzo – Impressions: Feelings of a partisan Valtoce Division – 1944 manuscript found in Milan in 2022”, speaker Umberto Di Donato, director of the Machine Museum.
This is an unpublished manuscript by the partisan Dozzo found, transcribed, commented by Umberto Di Donato.
– interventions by third year students of the “Fabrizio Prandina” secondary school on the topics addressed.
At 1.00 pm the traditional tribute to magistrate Cosimo Orrù will be held in the prosecutor’s office, with the laying of a wreath at the dedicated plaque.
Thursday 25 April at 9.30 am at the Civic Temple of Sant’Anna will host the laying of a wreath and the Holy Mass, celebrated by Msgr. Pagans.
At the end of the celebration, on the proposal of the “Gruppamento Divisioni Patrioti Alfredo Di Dio” – FIVL, “The Rebel’s Prayer”, written by the Holy Lieutenant, MOVM, Martyr and Blessed, Teresio Olivelli, will be posted on the walls of the temple, a testimony of great importance for the Catholic Resistance of the “Rebels for Love”.
At 10.30 am in Piazza Trento e Trieste the flag-raising and wreath-laying at the War Memorial will take place, followed by the procession with the Borsound 1919 Band which will reach Via Fratelli d’Italia, where the wreath-laying at the Monument is scheduled to Resistance and Deportation. After the institutional greetings, in the churchyard of the civic temple, Prof. Antonio Maria Orecchia, Associate Professor of Contemporary History at the University of Insubria, will propose a reflection on the theme “April 25th in the construction site of memory: survival in memory and time of pacification”.
