“Resist Pedaling Resist”, cycling for resistance in Onna


ONNA – Cycling for the Resistance and visit to Onna open to all. On the 25th of April each year, the Italian Environment and Bicycle Federation promotes the event “Resistere Pedalare Resistere”. The celebratory and commemorative event of the Resistance proposed by FIAB L’Aquila will combine a cycle excursion to the places of the Resistance in L’Aquila, a visit open to all to Onna, with a testimony of the Resistance and the extraordinary opening of the Museum of Popular History in curated by Onna Onlus and the “buses and traffic jams” game in the square. The appointment is set at 9.30 am in Piazza Nove Martiri for those who cycle, while for all the others we will meet at 10.45 am in Onna.

Cycle-excursion program: cycling through the places of the L’Aquila Resistance

L’AQUILA – Piazza Nove Martiri: meeting and registration at 9.30am, departure at 10.00am.
Route: Villa Comunale – Porta Napoli – SS 5 Cycle path (entrance Via A. Graziosi) – Monticchio
– Onna (stop at the monument to the victims of 06.11.1944) – Paganica – Pescomaggiore – Filetto (stop at
monument victims of 06.07.1944) – Camarda – Paganica – Tempera – L’Aquila (Piazza Nove
Martyrs). Length: 45 km. Duration: 4 hours, stops included.
The ride is open to any type of bicycle. Participation fee including insurance
for non-members of FIAB and ASD cycling €5.00. There are no refreshment points. It is recommended to bring
with you a kit for bicycle repairs. Clothing appropriate for the season, water and small
snacks.

ONNA – Monument to the fallen in Via dei Martiri: meeting at 10.45am. 11.00 am: ceremony of the ANPI delegation and the Municipality of L’Aquila for the laying of the commemorative wreath on the monument to the fallen of 11 June 1944. Following: moment of re-enactment with testimony of the Resistance and guided tour of the Museum of
Popular history, edited by Onna Onlus. Following: game for children and adults in the town square in Via Trento, in front of the new church.
