Child neurospichiatry Bitonto, Tammacco: “The end of inconveniences from June”

Statement by the group leader For Puglia Saverio Tammacco:

«The children and families who use the child and adolescent neuropsychiatry center of the former Bitonto hospital from June will have a temporary location, rented, which will host them for the next two years, awaiting the definitive transfer to the former Istituto San Carlo at the end of the renovation which involves the expansion of the services provided to date. Although we would have hoped for a definitive solution, certainly the idea of being able to count on a location that, although temporary, is adequate for the needs and requirements of users, is already good news for those who in recent years, particularly after the pandemic, had to endure the difficulties caused by an inappropriate and insufficient location compared to the demand coming not only from Bitonto but also from Palo del Colle: endless waiting lists for even urgent visits, lack of staff, dilapidated premises unsuitable for hosting small patients. We are confident that the temporary headquarters represents a first step towards the end of the inconveniences for the many families who do not ask for the moon but only for appropriate services, visits and timely diagnoses, care and therapies for their children.

For our part, thanks to the work of the Budget Commission, we will continue to ensure that the times for the renovation of the former San Carlo Institute, which the Metropolitan City handed over to the Municipality of Bitonto, are respected, not before having clarified with what resources the intervention be carried out”.
