Taranto: “The wave of the future”, today’s procession

Below is a statement released by Parents from Taranto:

“The Wave of the Future” is the name of the demonstration organized by the associations of Taranto, which includes 50 associations from the Ionian area, citizens, workers and students, who tomorrow, Tuesday 23 April, will parade through the streets of the city to ask for “a serious economic reconversion of the entire territory, starting from the dismantling of the former Ilva plants and the retraining of all the workers who must become the true protagonists of the decontamination and reclamation of the entire industrial area”.

The procession will start from Piazzale Bestat at 5pm (meeting at 4.30pm), led by hundreds of children who will impersonate the inhabitants of the sea.

We will arrive at the Archaeological Park of the Greek Walls, where the children will be diverted into a space specially set up for them, with balls and baskets, under the supervision of qualified instructors and coaches.

For the older ones there will be the possibility of attending qualified speeches and live music interludes; furthermore, for those who want to refresh themselves there will be the possibility of accessing the stands already present on site.

The event will end, after two hours of live music by Zakalicious and the duo Don Ciccio and Macro, at 11pm.

The entire population of the Taranto province is invited to participate. As in a cohesive community, everyone can be that drop that will form an incredible wave for the sustainable future of us, our children and the next generations.
