ANCONA The domino effect creeps into the garbage bin. Waste management costs – an alliance between Anconambiente, which puts 18 million on the table for the collection of urban and special waste, and the Municipality, with 4.5 million – increased by 1.7 million. The next movement is inevitable: the tax, linked to the service, grows by 7.45%. An increase passed yesterday morning in the Budget Committee, the Fifth, with the following scheme: the first instalment, that of May, which corresponds to 50% of last year’s amount, will remain unchanged; the adjustment generated by the new tariffs will arrive in December. The compact yes of the majority, as opposed to the denial of the opposition, is the prelude to the next step in the City Council, the date of which is not yet certain.

Plan

Defines the context of the garbage tax adjustment, Giovanni Zinni. «Every two years – is the voice of the budget councilor – the economic and financial plan must be updated. With this document we also take note of the waste data and transmit them to the ATO, the optimal territorial area, which in turn determines the tariff that is approved”. The separation proceeds: «Of the 18 million with which Anconambiente, a subsidiary of Palazzo del Popolo, intervenes in the collection, 10 million are intended for investments, the rest goes to management». He reiterates the 4.5 million put in place by the Municipality and gives the sums that make up the overall cost: 22.7 million, compared to the previous 21. On one point the councilor is keen to clarify: «This two-year period is not we started it. The orientation of the council, in addition to having to stay within this technical path, and take note that the formation of the tariff will be determined by the ATO, is to communicate the new models envisaged. We can’t do anything else.” Zinni gets to the corollary of the benefits, and undertakes: «We will not affect the current ones, linked to the income brackets, provided for by the regulation. On the contrary, those that were a consequence of Covid will be cancelled.” He specifies: «Either we change the rules or we will play the game, politically, when the specific tariff comes into force, i.e. the system that will allow the introduction of a new one, partly calculated on the basis of the actual production of waste conferred by the user».

The calculation

Arrives at the nucleus of the rises, Antonio Gitto. «Waste management costs – details the president of Anconambiente – have increased by 1.7 million due to the adjustment to inflation: in the case of companies involved in environmental hygiene it is more than 10%». He explains why: «It is measured on the prices of 2021, which was the boom year for energy price increases». Another proof that there is no escape from the domino effect.
