MESSINA. Mayor Federico Basile, in agreement with the Tourism Councilor Enzo Caruso, presented the Coordination of “Explore Messina” today at Palazzo Zanca, as part of the VISITME online portal. The initiative of the municipal administration was shared by the operators who illustrated the tourist offer in the city of their services to be made available to guests in the accommodation facilities for the discovery of Messina and its peculiarities.
“It is the first time – explained Mayor Basile – that a tool of choice has been created in the city for the tourist, the cruise passenger and the citizen himself, which starts on an experimental basis, but through a collaborative network it allows to systematise a series of services and activities to get to know Messina and its beauties. The next step will be the direct involvement of the accommodation facilities called upon to present this shared and structured offer to those staying in the city. This is a starting point with the participation of nine tourist operators, but the objective is to extend the network for an increasingly adequate, alternative and functional tourist offer”.
Councilor Caruso went into detail, highlighting that “this initiative is useful not only for cruise passengers, but also for permanent tourism; In fact, Messina should no longer be considered a transit city, but one to visit and stay in. The various services that each operator has always offered independently with their own company are jointly systemised, to respond to the requests of those who, motivated by a holiday and/or an event, choose to stay overnight and visit Messina . The offer includes excursions on a sailing boat or with a felucca, a cycle path and tourist buses to visit the city, bike rides with or without a guide, 4×4 tours in the Peloritani mountains and other activities”.
The nine companies that have joined are Mediterranea bike – bike tours; Discover Messina – walking tour with tourist guide; Fishing Tourism Mancuso – boat tour; Xplore 4×4 – Peloritani 4×4 tour; Puleo company – open top bus; Pellegrino services srl tourist trains; Scouter and electric bike rental center; Radio Taxi Jolly – taxi in Messina; and SunSicily sailing boat rental.
