That of Grande Torino is a story that goes beyond the world of football and that’s why too the Giro d’Italia joins the memory of the Invincibles. On May 4, 2024, on the 75th anniversary of the tragic death of the Grande Torino, the inaugural stage of the Giro d’Italia will pass right near the Superga hill to pay homage to all those who lost their lives in that terrible disaster. The indissoluble bond between Toro and the Giro d’Italia starts from a friendship between the players of Grande Torino and Fausto Coppi, one of the most successful Italian riders in Always. Precisely in 1949, Coppi was the first to achieve a feat since then repeated only six times: winning the Giro d’Italia and the Tour de France in the same year, racing with a small Torino pennant sewn onto his shirt in honor of his friends that he had just lost.
Thanks to the collaboration between Torino FC and RCS Sport they were exhibited at the Grande Torino stadium – before the Turin – Frosinone match – iThe Endless Trophy of the Giro d’Italia, the Maglia Rosa which distinguishes the rider at the top of the general classification and the new shirt that CastelliOfficial Partner of the Giro d’Italia, created to remember the Grande Torino.
