Ferrara-Scaringella and Fidelis also wins against Manfredonia: playoffs mathematically won

On the one hand the playoffs are closed, on the other all the playout jackpots are over. It is the summary of the 2-0 that Fidelis inflicted on Manfredonia in the third to last of group H of Serie D. Rain and cold for a match on a pitch that is still in good conditions. However, Scaringella has to give up several players including Strambelli, Silvestri, Telera, Giambuzzi and Riefolo. He retrieves Jefferson and Feola who sit on the bench. Space for Martinez from the first minute, after having been off the pitch’s radar for a long period, alongside Scaringella with Russo and Cecere wider and Bottalico-Cancelli in the middle of the pitch. For Franco Cinque, however, the absence of Giacobbe in the suspended midfield weighs heavily. Carbonaro with Balba and Babaj at his side for the attack while space for Cicerelli in midfield.

Manfredonia started better with Babaj who kicked hard from the edge, the ball just wide. It takes Fidelis a while to adapt to the different new men on the pitch. Martinez makes a big effort and touches his head on the tackle with Forte, the ball goes to the back. On the other side it is Balba who frees himself well with the left-handed shot, not his foot, the ball on the bottom. In the quarter of an hour, the great opportunity for Manfredonia is created by Carbonaro who doesn’t think twice and volleys a loose ball, Baietti is decisive in saving everything in the corner. Following the corner kick, Fissore’s header comes close to hitting the top corner. From here, however, the lights go out for the guests and the Fidelis rises in intensity and tone. Action started in a confusing way for the hosts and ended in the net by Russo, high ball. But the goal that unlocks the match arrives in the 26th minute: Bottalico’s stroke from the left and the winning shot arrives in the center of the area for Michele Ferrara who kisses the post and gives Fidelis the lead. First goal with the blue and white shirt for the defender from Andria on his return after the injury stoppage after having already come close to coming close to him several times. The goal is a blow to Manfredonia who after less than three minutes are left with ten men: Calemme’s intervention on Padalino in an aerial tackle judged by a red card directed by Mr. Maresca from Naples who has no doubts. Early shower for the imaginative guest playmaker and medical treatment for the home defender but a distorted match for Manfredonia down by a goal and a man. And Fidelis immediately tries to take advantage of it, first with a shot from Cancelli which misses the target by just a little and then with the post, with Paduano beaten, hit by Russo after a good move by the home team. No more rings in the first half and the second half began immediately with De Vito on the pitch in place of Babaj. But Fidelis started better and immediately built two good opportunities, the first with Cecere, a shot deflected for a corner, and then with Russo’s overhead kick which was good for the preparation but less so for the conclusion.

Padalino also tries, Fissore deflects. Many changes on one side and the other until the dawn of the half hour when the second goal arrives: prolonged triangle between Cancelli and Scaringella with the forward from Andria collecting the assist from the home number 8 and overcoming Paduano with a touch winner who breaks a fast of practically a group. Scaringella had scored his last goal, before a long injury, in Manfredonia. In the final the guests have a good opportunity to reopen it with a team that Cinque deploys with front-wheel drive: Carbonaro shoots with confidence in the heart of the penalty area, Padalino’s intervention is decisive. Newly substitute Jefferson also tries to volley after an incorrect touch from Paduano, the ball not wide enough. Fidelis remains fourth and locks up the playoffs but remains one point away from third place. However, the streak of Scaringella’s men is positive and in the last ten matches they have achieved seven victories, two draws and only one defeat. Next Sunday, an away match in Rotonda against one of the few teams that has not yet achieved their seasonal goal, in this case salvation.
