The forty-nine-year-old convicted felon who was arrested on Friday afternoon by the Carabinieri of the Porto Garibaldi station will have to serve five years and eleven months in prison for drug dealing and criminal association aimed at international drug trafficking. The police tracked down the man at his brother’s house, where he had been under house arrest for almost two years. The man, therefore, was arrested again as provided for in the detention order issued last Friday by the criminal enforcement office of the Prosecutor’s Office at the Court of Appeal of Bologna. The provision arises from a seven-year prison sentence for drug dealing and criminal association aimed at international drug trafficking, issued against the man by the Court of Appeal of Bologna in April last year and which became definitive following the rejection of the appeal to the Supreme Court. The man had been involved in a very extensive investigation by the Carabinieri of the Company of San Giovanni in Persiceto and coordinated by the District Anti-Mafia Directorate (DDA) of Bologna which encompassed the territories of Bologna, Ferrara and Ravenna, arriving in Lombardy, and led to nine precautionary measures in prison and twelve others under investigation in a state of freedom for very serious crimes linked to drug trafficking, in particular hashish and marijuana. For this reason, on Friday afternoon, the forty-nine-year-old Italian criminal was arrested by the carabinieri of the Porto Garibaldi station and taken to the prison in Ferrara where he will serve his sentence.
