Latina – Nas checks, 300 kg of food seized

LATINA/FONDI – Food safety in the sights of the police in the province of Latina. In fact, in recent days some checks have been carried out by the soldiers of the NAS of Latina, coordinated by Major Felice Egidio in collaboration with colleagues from the territorial army. Various inspections were carried out within commercial activities in the capital and also in the city of Fondi.
In total, the checks led to the seizure of approximately three quintals of various foodstuffs, for which the military contested the violation of the failure to apply the self-control procedures. In particular in Latina, in a supermarket, 150 kilos of cured meats and cheeses were seized, found in an environment whose temperature was not controlled. Furthermore, those products had no traceability and had exceeded the expiry date or minimum shelf life.
In a supermarket in the municipality of Fondi, for the same reasons, 50 kilos of various cured meats, including sausages and bacon, were seized for a total value of approximately 1500 euros. Also in Fondi, in a delicatessen, one hundred kilos of cheeses and cured meats were found, some of which were stored in an unsuitable manner and partly without traceability documentation. A fine of 1500 euros was imposed on all three owners.
