Bolzano – It happened last Sunday. A virtuous citizen had noticed two foreigners loading bicycles into an old van in Via Rencio: intrigued by their strange attitude, he called 112NUE. On site, a patrol from the Bolzano Main station proceeded to check the two men and the contents of the van: they were two fences, foreign citizens, one of whom had a police record. The young people, upon specific request, were unable to provide proof of purchase and/or a valid justification regarding the possession of so much merchandise, of various kinds, loaded into a van registered to a third party, their mutual friend who lives in Bolzano.

The stolen goods, consisting of a children’s bicycle, an electric scooter, a large TV and other goods, with a value currently being quantified, were seized and the two owners released on bail for the crime of “receiving stolen goods”.

The Company Commander of the Carabinieri of Bolzano, Cannata Galante, is satisfied with the military’s work and explains: “Thanks to the “red-handed” report of a virtuous citizen and the immediate intervention of the Carabinieri patrol at the main station, we managed to identify two fences who previously peacefully carried out their illegal business in Bolzano. The first investigations carried out to reconstruct the dynamics of what happened allowed us to discover that those two men, non-EU citizens reported for receiving stolen goods, were organizing a load of stolen objects destined for the North African market.

What was found was seized and we are still carrying out the necessary investigations aimed at identifying the legitimate owners, who are most likely victims of theft. This is yet another demonstration that the Bolzano Carabinieri is always ready to respond to the various requests for intervention and/or support from citizens. Call 112NUE as soon as you have any doubts about unclear dynamics you are assisting and/or our intervention is necessary, don’t hesitate and don’t procrastinate!”.
