As part of targeted services aimed at combating irregularities in the food sector, the Carabinieri of Nas of Latinaassisted by colleagues from the Territorial Police, carried out a series of inspections in the municipalities of Latina and Fondi which led to the seizure of approximately 300 kilos of various foodstuffs found in violation of the failure to apply self-control procedures.
In particular, in a supermarket in Latina, around 150 kilos of cured meats and cheeses were administratively seized, found at uncontrolled room temperature, i.e. without traceability and with an expiry date or Tmc (minimum shelf life) having passed.
In a supermarket in the municipality of Fondi, for a similar reason, approximately 50 kilos of various cured meats, including sausages and bacon, were administratively seized, for a total value of the goods of approximately 1,500 euros.
Finally, in a delicatessen, also in the municipality of Fondi, the NAS soldiers found 100 kilos of cheeses and cured meats, some of which were preserved in a manner that was not suitable for preserving their quality and partly without suitable documentation certifying the traceability that would allow to verify its origin.
An administrative fine of 1,500 euros was imposed on all three owners.
