“homage to my Sardinian roots”

Olbia. A hymn to life, to the courage to pursue one’s choices and a tribute to deep roots: the musician’s new work Daniel Gala (formerly a member of Estemporanea) is called Carrera – Yesas on who yesas. This is his first solo work: “after many years in a group, I wanted to experiment with a different path, which would allow me to dissect everything that is not possible within a band, for obvious reasons of expressive synthesis and language compatibility” explains Gala.

Carrera arrives as the result of a long period of personal transformation and artistic: “this single arrived after a moment of observation of various difficulties and failures, to which I attribute the credit for the release of this song; I had the opportunity to face a series of aspects relating to both my personal and creative life and Thus the need to work on this single was born” continues the musician.

“The first of the aspects that I consider important is certainly having understood the importance of having deep roots and of wanting to express them artistically; I wanted to research the linguistic richness that characterizes us, trying to give references to the Sardinian language and above all to precise expressiveness. In particular, the phrase ‘Sìas su chi siaas’ comes from the memories of my grandparents, and from my childhood spent in Monti; my grandmother used this phrase very often. The second reference is certainly to Francesco Pilu of Cordas et cannas, to whom I wanted to make reference gift; when they began to characterize their path through experimentation in the use of the Sardinian language they were not immediately welcomed, even if time has rightly paid tribute to their talent” says Gala.

“Carrera means road. The song is introduced by a choir that suggests an African tribal dance, a ritual to chase away the clouds, understood as negative forces” reports the musician.

The song “Carrera” came to life in the recording studio of the renowned Olbia musician Andrea Pica between 28 and 31 January. A team of talented musicians contributed to the recording of this song, including Roberto Pitzoi on drums, Ottavio Cocco and Simone Poggi on percussion, Giovanni Del Fonso on piano, Alessandro Muzzu on guitar, Gianluca Accogli on bass, Antonio Meloni on trumpets, Bruno Piccinnu on tabla and Daniele Gala on voices and guitars.

“After composing the song, I involved a group of friends, musicians and artists who enthusiastically welcomed both the song and the idea itself. This contagious enthusiasm was reflected in the recording studio, where everyone contributed with their own talent to make the recording experience unique. I am proud to have aroused this wave of enthusiasm and I thank everyone who put their trust in me, not only the musicians who played on the song, but also all the people with whom I had the privilege. to share thoughts, ideas and intentions for this work. Furthermore, I had the pleasure of working with Marco Azara in the production of the song, and I would like to thank him for the precious advice offered. Special thanks also go to Gino Marielli of Tazenda, Gavino Murgia,. Beppe Dettori, Gianni Menicucci, Gianni Fasciolo, author of the single cover, and Fabio Piscitelli SMM” says Gala.

The creator of the images that accompany the song is the photographer Andrea Mignogna, known as Frankshouter: “Andrea has done an extraordinary job in capturing the emotional essence of over 10 artists, managing to highlight the individuality and emotion of each of them” these are the words of Carrera’s author.

A solo journey that has just begun but is already very intense: “I still have a lot to say and I hope to be able to continue to express myself in this sense” concludes the musician, active in the sector since 2007 and today in his first, profound solo experience.
