A garden for women victims of violence in the name of Loredana Scalone in Catanzaro, killed by her partner in 2020

Catanzaro – For Loredana and for all women victims of violence. The inauguration of the “Loredana Garden” in memory of Loredana Scalone and other women victims of violence took place this morning at the “Generale Carlo Alberto Dalla Chiesa” park (formerly the “Ghiacciaia” park) in Catanzaro. The initiative, promoted by the “G. De Nobili” and sponsored by the Municipality of Catanzaro, aims to dedicate a green space, frequented mainly by young students from the various schools located in the area, which invites people to stop and reflect on the topic of gender violence.

Loredana Scalone, barbarically killed in 2020 by her partner, is just one of the many women – it has been underlined – who remain victims of toxic and deviant relationships whose pervasiveness in relationships appears dramatically unstoppable. The “G. De Nobili” – who will take care of a portion of the park – planted some plants and placed a small commemorative stele which was discovered in the presence of students, municipal and school authorities and representatives of the anti-violence centers in the province of Catanzaro . Also present were Loredana’s family members represented by her sister Giulia. “It is a wonderful initiative – he declared – strongly supported by Professor Elena Maida, we believe in this space to preserve the memory of my sister and of all the women victims of violence but also to raise awareness among the new generations of the values ​​of love, mutual respect and gender equality”.
