‘Enough is enough’, the demonstration by CGIL and UIL – Companies

The national demonstration of CGIL and UIL took place in Rome, under the slogan “Enough is enough!”. The two unions, with the general secretaries Maurizio Landini and Pierpaolo Bombardieri, have returned to the streets for health and safety in the workplace, for the right to healthcare and public health, for a “fair” tax reform and the protection of wages . The meeting was in Piazzale Ugo la Malfa, from where the procession then reached Piazzale Ostiense, where the stage was set up.

CGIL and UIL took to the streets again less than ten days after the strike on 11 April, to demand zero deaths at work, a fair tax reform, a new social model of doing business.

Landini, ‘this is the real country, it must be listened to’

“From this square comes the message of the real country, given that they are telling lies, regimenting and trying to control everything: this is the real country that speaks, that says what the problems are and that there is a need for change: listen the world of work, which keeps this country on its feet and can no longer do it.” Thus the general secretary of the CGIL, Maurizio Landini, from the demonstration with the Uil, adding that “we have no intention of stopping”.

Bombers, ‘politics give answers to the real country’

“We are here to demonstrate that there is a real country that suffers, that has difficulty in making ends meet, in using health services: 6 million poor people, 5 million workers with expired contracts are waiting for answers, at work, security, healthcare. And there are people who always pay taxes and someone who never pays them and the government pretends not to see.” Thus the general secretary of Uil, Pierpaolo Bombardieri, arriving at the procession with the CGIL. “We expect attention and concrete responses from politics, we have a politics that is very worried about electoral competitions”, he says.
