TURIN – For the first time in its history Calabria organizes the Regions Tournament dedicated to the regional five-a-side football teams of the National Amateur League with all four categories Under 19, U17, U15 and female. Once again, the synergy with the 5-a-side Football Division is fundamental, confirming that the Lnd works as a system to promote all disciplines. The Regional Committee chaired by Saverio Mirarchi, dynamic and proactive, returns to organize the iconic Lnd Tournament after only five editions. In 2016 Calabria hosted the event dedicated to eleven-a-side football. Yesterday, Friday 19 April, at “Palazzo Alvaro”, headquarters of the Metropolitan City of Reggio Calabria, the official presentation of the 60th edition of the 5-a-side Regions Football Tournament took place which will be played in Calabria from 25 April to 1 May. Lnd, the ten cities of the tournament
The 2024 edition of the National Amateur League event dedicated to futsal will be staged from 25 April to 1 May in ten cities in four provinces of Calabria with the promise of providing goals, entertainment and emotions in abundance. Furthermore, the numbers of the tournament are important: 874 male and female athletes from 14 to 19 years old (the footballers), from 16 to 26 years old for the female footballers, will take to the field, called to defend the colors of 73 Regional Representatives (one more than the last edition) who will compete in 127 matches in 14 sports halls in the provinces of Catanzaro, Cosenza, Crotone and Reggio Calabria. Also counting athletes, managers, technicians and referees, there will be over 1,300 people involved in the great 5-a-side football event. As per tradition, four categories will animate the Tournament: three men’s (Under 19, Under 17, Under 15) and one women’s . The group matches will be played between Thursday 25th and Saturday 27th April. We start at 9.30 with the youngest, at 11.30 the under 17s take to the field, the women’s teams play at 3.00. The day ends with the Under 19 matches with kick-off at 5.30pm. After the day off, the direct elimination matches begin on Monday 29th April with the Quarter Finals scheduled all in the arenas of Reggio Calabria. Tuesday 30th the eight semi-finals, Friday 1st May the four finals.
Calabria, all the numbers
It will be a monumental tournament involving over 1300 people including athletes, managers, technicians and referees. There will be 73 teams competing for the four trophies in Calabria. These are the impressive numbers that only the Regions Tournament can show off. There are 127 matches scheduled and they will be played on fourteen arenas in ten cities in four provinces of Calabria: Catanzaro, Cosenza, Crotone and Reggio Calabria.
The arenas: “Palamilone” of Crotone, Palasport of Cirò Marina (Kr), Palakrò of Crotone, “Palaferraro” of Cosenza, Palasport of Casali Del Manco (Cs), Palasport of Amantea (Cs), Palasport “Palasparti” of Lamezia Terme (Cz), “Palagallo” of Catanzaro, Palazzetto dello Sport of Sant’Andrea Apostolo Dello Jonio (Cz), “Palascoppa” of Soverato (Cz), Palasport of Motta San Giovanni (Rc), “PalaCalafiore” of Reggio Calabria, Palasport “Botteghelle” of Reggio Calabria, “Planeta Viola” of Reggio Calabria. The Regions Tournament will also have an important impact from the point of view of sports tourism with the 73 representatives staying in 18 accommodation facilities in the locations of four provinces of Calabria.
Tournament of Regions, opportunity to grow beyond sport
The iconic event of the Lnd will go beyond futsal played to kick off a real cultural revolution for the National Amateur League. For the first time, the competitive recognition will be celebrated with an educational and training experience for the footballers who will raise the four trophies to the sky. The Lnd, in collaboration with Italiacamp, will offer all the winners of the four categories participation in educational, experiential and learning paths (the STEM disciplines) to go beyond sport, broaden the horizons and perspectives of boys and girls. The initiative promoted by the Lnd Social Responsibility Area aligns with the objectives of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. A new way to grow thanks to multidisciplinary skills using innovative technologies. A new opportunity for male and female footballers from amateur clubs.
Futsal esport, gaming and social inclusion
After the happy experience of the C11 Regions Tournament, the LND eSports Department reaches another important milestone with the first virtual futsal event dedicated to the Regional Representatives. From 26 to 29 April in Catanzaro at the headquarters of the Calabria LND Regional Committee, with the collaboration of the Aragon eSports staff, the girls and boys of the local non-profit organisations, involved in the field of motor and cognitive disabilities, will be protagonists of the first tournament of the futsal regions eSports. All matches will be broadcast live on the official Twitch channel of the National Amateur League with a schedule full of content.
On Sunday, before the final phase, there will also be space for an important round table in which non-profit organizations and local football clubs will participate to talk about gaming as a tool for social inclusion.
How to follow the tournament
The 60th Tournament of Regions Five-a-side football aims at a target audience as young and broad as possible online and offline thanks to the collaboration between the National Amateur League, the Five-a-side Football Division and the many regional information bodies. Live streaming, digital platforms, social media, photos, online media and printed media are the tools that will make the event an immersive experience to be enjoyed thanks to the involvement and participation of the fan base. The 60th anniversary will be celebrated in the best possible way with 88 live streams and two finals on Sky Sports. Sixty matches of the group stage, twenty in each day, can be seen in live streaming on the official YouTube channel of the National Amateur League. All the knockout matches of the Regions Tournament will be broadcast live on futsaltv.it, the official digital platform of the five-a-side football division. Two finals will be broadcast live on Sky Sports. All real-time results, scores, updated rankings, curiosities and insights will be available on the official website of the event tournamentdelleregioni.lnd.it thanks to the new intuitive, immediate competition system, with an innovative graphic design, also available on smartphones. Traditional communication will give prestige to the Tournament, especially involving the territory, thanks to Corriere dello Sport and Tuttosport, which will follow the event at a national level. The LND’s social media will allow protagonists and enthusiasts to interact, share and participate. The National Amateur League’s Instagram, Facebook and Twitter will be flooded with emotional photos and clips created by the protagonists themselves, shared by the LND’s social networks, to involve young people and make them participate thanks to user generated content.
