The polls are not comforting, but the 5 stars they are not at all resigned. “In Piedmont our expectation is to have a huge response from citizens – he said Giuseppe Conte today in Settimo Torinese, on the sidelines of the MoVifest, the celebration of the Piedmontese movement –. An appreciation for what we do, even the sacrifices, because we in the territories with our rules are penalized for the double mandate, for the fact that our rigor in the formation of the lists requires us not to take defectors, not to take vote catchers, to absolutely refuse any hand extended by some stickman. So we compete in the territories starting from a disadvantaged position, and it is up to the citizens to recognize whether they care about these values, these principles, and help us recover this initial disadvantage”.
Escorted by the party’s general staff, with the candidate for the presidency of the Region in the front row Sarah Disabato the leader M5s he suggested not to give too much importance to the findings before the vote. “Notoriously, I don’t commission polls and so just as we don’t get excited when they credit us as overtaking other political forces, or in any case advancing, so we don’t worry when there are slight declines, among other things we’re talking about small gaps. What is important for us is a political trajectory.” The one that in Piedmont after a couple of months of meetings led the Five Star Movement to close the door on the alliance with the PD and the other components of the center-left. “The important thing – underlined Conte – are the battles we fight, the important thing is to be consistent with the values we profess, and we would like everyone to be so because if all the political forces did so, in line with the commitments and objectives they declare of wanting to pursue it, we would certainly have many more citizens who would vote again.”
A few passages on the elections tomorrow and Sunday Basilicata (“There is a climate of recovery, I am confident”) and on the main national political issues, starting from the Pnrr: “We must prevent the Italians who have had the trust of all of Europe from becoming, in the image that could spread, the scammers of Europe: this government must accept the controls, indeed it must strengthen them, without slowing down the process of implementing the Pnrr. We are worried – added Conte – because the government very short-sightedly wanted to remove the controls thinking it could speed up implementation, but in reality it is setting up a trough for business committees, infiltrations of all kinds, including mafia ones. We already have evidence of 600 million scams on the Pnrr due to investigations requested by the European prosecutor’s office: 86% of these investigations concern Italy”. No mention, however, of the “biggest scam in the history of the Republic” (in the words of Mario Draghi) what was the Superbonus (147 billion hole) launched during your government.
