An intense weekend between music and words :: Events and Culture

Saturday 20 April at Menchetti Parco discussion with mother/blogger Monia Gabaldo. Sunday 21 April Paola Turci at the Petrarca theater together with the students of the Artistic High School in a unique performance focused on freedom. The Blue Month of Autism, organized by Autism Arezzo together with Associazione Crescere, ToscanAbile and Fondazione Rinoscersi, comes to life and is preparing for two days of events.

On Saturday 20 April at the Bar Menchetti Parco (near Parco Pertini) at 4 pm the initiative “Autism and work team” meeting with Monia Gabaldo and her family. Monia is the mother of three autistic boys and faces every challenge with great organization and enthusiasm. She is well known on social and web channels with her practical advice on how to deal with this intense and difficult life path. A moment to discuss between parents who experience autism and disability every day and face it without fear.

The program is the traditional show of music and words for autism on Sunday 21 April, starting at 5pm.

This year too we will host a great artist who will perform in a very particular programme.

The program of the event at the Petrarca theater includes the participation of Paola Turci, a monument of Italian authorial music and an artist who has always been committed to issues of social justice, with a performance between music and words.

The show focuses on the themes of Freedom and will also feature a performance by Ettore Caterino, doctor/neuropsychiatrist and musician together with the students of the Piero della Francesca High School.

‘Long live Freedom’ is the title of the Teatro Sociale performance inspired by art. 21 of the Italian Constitution which derives from the Theater and Dance course carried out at the Liceo Piero della Francesca in Arezzo. The project involves students from ten classes.

“This year at the Theater laboratory, says director Amina Kovacevich, we decided to discuss an important theme, fundamental to our lives: Freedom!’. The laboratory is part of the Inclusion projects proposed by the School. The actors of ‘Viva la Libertà’ are thirty students with and without certification and Support Teachers.”

The theatrical production is curated by Amina Kovacevich, Silvia Martini, Ilaria Violin for NO MAD APS, dance movements by Francesca Barbagli for Semillita Atelièr, on keyboards by Prof. Stefano Graverini at Cahon Lam Salvicchi.

The program is promoted by the Arezzo Autism Association, with the collaboration of Officine della Cultura, Koiné, Municipality of Arezzo, Giudo D’Arezzo Foundation, Arezzo Community Foundation, Reconoscersi Foundation, Associazione Crescere, ToscaAbile, with the support of Caurum, Banca Popolare of Cortona, Conad, Unoinformatica, Gimar, Acetificio Aretino, Ecotrade, Estra.

“I believe that this year,” says the president of Autism Arezzo Andrea Laurenzi, “we have created a great awareness and information project. For us it was essential to activate this path of closer collaboration with the other associations (Crescere, ToscanAbile and Rinoscersi) because we are deeply convinced that this is the only path that can truly bring concrete and lasting results for our children. We are also working with this group on very complex issues which will see us personally involved in the coming months.”

“For many years, Arezzo Autism has been an association that not only supports people and families but, above all, declares Francesco Macrì, president of Estra which supports the event, works to affirm a new concept and a different perception of autism. Rights and quality of life are at stake, but also society’s ability to see people with different abilities in the right way. A show which sees the participation of Paola Turci, confirms a mode of action that Estra shares and supports. Let us work together not only to guarantee people’s rights but also to develop a caring and inclusive culture.”
