Last 180′ of the championship, last trip of the regular season to nearby Pescara and a chase for direct salvation still in full swing. Crossing this finish line is still a viable possibility for Ancona who did their duty by defeating Sestri Levante last Sunday. And the Ligurian team itself – together with the fellow regional team Entella – constitutes the… hare on which to make the race to try to get out of the play-out zone, with plan B represented by the closing of the tournament in sixteenth place but with a gap in terms of points enough to “dodge” the derby play-off with Fermana. And given that the matches are scheduled to take place at the same time in the last two rounds, it is normal that the red and white fans’ ears are also attentive to the news coming from the other fields, with Recanatese – 1 behind the Dorians – receiving Gubbio and Vis trailing behind by two points in Vercelli against Sestri.
Waiting for Ancona will be a Pescara team partly reassured by the round success on the field of bottom team Olbia, but still in the midst of the storm of protest from the fans (who even in the match against the red and whites will enter the sector reserved for them only in the second half) addressed to president Sebastiani. The Abruzzo team are currently in sixth place, with constant familiarity in front of goals (57 goals scored, fifth in the special ranking of the entire Lega Pro) but also with obvious defensive gaps, highlighted especially in the last two months marked by seven defeats in twelve match (three goals conceded by Recanatese, four by Gubbio and Vis and five by Rimini). On the scales the report on direct clashes: 37 matches with twelve draws, thirteen Dorian victories and twelve blue and white victories, nine of which were obtained at home.
Probable lineups
Cascione, coach of the Abruzzo team, will not have Pellacani, Masala and probably Di Pasquale available, and risks having to give up Aloi who has not yet completely recovered from a knee contusion. For the Calabrian midfielder the reserves will be dissolved at the last minute: in the event of a forfeit, Dagasso will warm up but the solution which contemplates the use of one of De Marco or Franchini to complete the midfield together with Squizzato and Tunjov cannot be ruled out. Up front there is still room for the trident formed by top scorer Merola – 17 goals so far this season – with Cuppone and Accornero. The defense to protect Plizzari will include Floriani on the right side, Brosco and Mesik in the middle while on the left-handed sector Pierno will be reconfirmed and should win the run-off with the returning Milani.
All skilled and enlisted at Ancona, with Pellizzari rejoining the group and the trio of Paolucci-Gatto-Cioffi again on the list of players called up after having served their respective suspensions. Mister Boscaglia could once again launch a formation with a four-man defence, made up of Martina on the left, Barnabà and Clemente dueling for the place on the right, and in the middle the Mondonico-Pasini pair with the sacrifice of Cella. Midfield formed by captain Gatto and Prezioso, Spagnoli at the forefront with Saco in the center plus Paolucci and Giampaolo on the outside to move between the lines. Far from being set aside, however, is the 3-5-2 which would provide a rearguard supported with an extra central defender and the renunciation of a man in midfield, with the tandem formed by Spagnoli-Giampaolo up front.
