Polesine Progressista against the League’s posters: It creates enemies because it has nothing to offer

ROVIGO – “All citizens have equal social dignity and are equal before the law, without distinction of sex, race, language, religion, political opinions, personal and social conditions.”

It is article 3 of the Italian Constitution. And it is one of the fundamental principles on which the Fathers and Mothers of the Constitution laid the foundations of anti-fascist Italy.

“After having appeared in other Venetian municipalities, electoral signs of the League were also displayed in Rovigo (READ ARTICLE) which we would have gladly done without, for many reasons: They offend intelligence, before anything else; They express racism; They cultivate the poison of racial and religious hatred; They create the enemy. Creating enemies is typical of those who have nothing to offer” declare from the Polesine Progressista group.

“So for the League the enemy was identified in a woman wearing the Niqab. The League would be better off, if it really cares about the fate of Italians, to take care of improving the public health service, which even in Veneto, where it has governed for decades, has taken enormous steps backwards. Suffice it to say that many, unable to afford private healthcare, give up treatment.

Or, much more down to earth, he could deal with the famous excise duties, which he wanted to remove when he was not in government. He could also study the Constitution, which is Italian.

We express our solidarity with the Muslim community and we feel like doing so on behalf of all those who recognize themselves in article 3 of the Constitution. We hope that the mayoral candidates of the city of Rovigo will take a stand against the message communicated by these posters.

Finally, we hope for the removal of the posters themselves. Our society is increasingly made up of different peoples and cultures. People who meet, study, work side by side, create families together, build the present and the future. We need to talk to each other, understand each other, know each other, respect each other. We need everyone. This is no longer the time for fanaticism in pursuit of the enemy. It is the time to live together, to improve ourselves, “without distinction of sex, race, language, religion, political opinions, personal and social conditions” concludes the Polesine Progressista group.
