Order of Psychologists Marche and Coni at conference

It is well known that sport is an antidote, but it could hide pitfalls if the athlete suffers excessively from stress and performance anxiety. It was discussed on Saturday morning in the ‘Terzo Censi’ room of Coni Marche at the Palaprometeo Estra in Ancona, within the ‘Is sport good for you?’ organized by CONI Marche School and Marche Order of Psychologists.

Also surprisingly speaking, the Regional Councilor for Sport Chiara Biondi confirmed that ‘the Marche Region will continue to invest in projects aimed at promoting sporting activity, especially when aimed at the world of young people’.

The collaboration between CONI Scuola Marche and OPM was born in 2022 thanks to the Memorandum of Understanding, while the Marche Regional School of Sport alone blows out twenty candles this year.

“Being intelligent means knowing how to read between the lines, but more and more athletes are considered as mere technical executors – explains Sammy Marcantognini, psychologist and director of Ethica Center – for this reason coaches must be authoritative, but leaving athletes, especially young ones, space to invent your own game.”

On the technical side, the tennis master and coach of professional players Fabio Gorietti, the ski coach and technical director of the national teams Claudio Ravetto and Giovanni Messina, teacher at the Coverciano Football Coaches School in Coverciano, were present. Professor Elena Barbieri spoke for the University of Urbino and, as a speaker at numerous national and international conferences, recalled how ‘physical exercise should be evaluated as a real therapy, even without replacing an adequate medical path. If prescribed and supervised, sport is synonymous with health.

The voice of the Municipality of Ancona was brought by the Councilors for Sport Giovanni Zinni and for Youth Policies Marco Battino. While the former recalled how ‘sport is an antidote par excellence, without forgetting that Marche sport is competitive and healthy, therefore with these initiatives the bar is further raised’, the latter underlined the importance of sporting activity as a means of bringing young people together and the constant commitment of the municipal administration to continue to support such proactive initiatives.

The conference was attended by around a hundred people including coaches, technicians, athletes, teachers and sports management staff.

Fabio Luna, President of CONI Marche, and Katia Marilungo, President of OPM, confirmed the validity of these moments of discussion and the desire to continue promoting similar initiatives in the name of collaboration and broader awareness on the issues of personal well-being.
