Milan, impaired man on the subway pushes a girl onto the tracks in Lambrate: arrested for attempted murder

The fear is great. They are a few seconds of terror. Even if in the end the prognosis for the victim will prove minimal: one day for the bruised back. For the attacker, however, that absurd gesture is worth arrest on charges of attempted murder. It’s almost 11pm on Friday. Milan green metro stop Lambrate. A couple of boys are waiting for the train to go home when a man in an evident state of agitation arrives on the platform. He is a 53 year old Italian born in the Dominican Republic. He has a history of crimes against the person. Among the few passengers present at the station he stands out: he is agitated, confused, shouting meaningless phrases.

Suddenly he approaches the couple – a 24-year-old Italian with her boyfriend – and he pushes the girl from behind onto the tracks. The young woman falls flat on her back. While her boyfriend and some passengers help her get up and get to safety by climbing back onto the platform, the man tries to get away from her. However, he is immediately blocked by a patrol of policemen from the Lambrate police station and by a Polmetro crew. The victim was then rescued by 118 and accompanied in code green to the Fatebenefratelli hospital. The attacker ends up in San Vittore instead.
