From April 21st to May 19th, travelers using i trains from Olbia to Cagliari will have to deal with a temporary suspension of service. The cause of this intervention is a series of scheduled maintenance works on the railway line which connects the two cities, managed by the Italian Railway Network (RFI), the leading company of the Infrastructure Hub of the FS Group.

These are ordinary interventions aimed at adjust the thermal expansion of the rails, a necessary practice to preserve the integrity of the railway infrastructure, especially in light of the climate changes that have characterized recent years. L’main goal of these works is to avoid an excessive rise in temperatures which could compromise the safety and efficiency of the railway service.

The need for these maintenance operations involves the temporary suspension of train movement along the lines Cagliari – Olbia And Cagliari – Iglesias/Carbonia Serbariu. However, it is essential to guarantee optimal climatic conditions for carrying out the works; if not, you may need one new planning activities. Around 80 thousand euros will be invested in these works, which will involve around 20 RFI workers and technicians together with other contracting companies.
