In the next few days, a real late cold wave awaits us which will practically envelop our entire country for several days.
Lately the climate has already shown a radical transformation after the unseasonal heat which had affected the weather and climate context of recent days.
The reason for this cooling is to be found in the movement, partly towards the west and partly towards the north, of the high pressure, an atmospheric mechanism which triggered the descent of very cold winds towards Italy and which will continue for a few more days.
The weather for this weekend therefore it promises to be significantly different compared to the hot conditions experienced last weekend: decidedly lower temperatures are expected throughout the national territory, with values that will drop further during the night, especially in the northern regions where, in the last few hours, temperatures have dropped , also approaching the point of freezing.
No significant changes are expected for early next week. On the contrary, a core of particularly cold air, with temperatures around -32°C at 5500 meters altitude, it will move towards the northwestern regions. This will lead to sometimes disturbed weather conditions, with a harsh climate reminiscent of winter weather. Daytime temperatures will remain very low, especially in areas affected by rain and thunderstorms. For example, in Piedmont, the climate will be so harsh that there will be a risk of snowfall up to quotas of low hill. Even in other areas of the North, where the weather will be unstable, the temperatures maximums will be abundantly maintained below the average for the period with values that will struggle to reach the threshold of 10°C.
However, this forecast still remains uncertain, as the main international computing centers have not yet reached a common trend line.
The only certain thing is that at least until the middle of next week we will experience a very difficult situation Freddo for the period.
