SOURCE: VALLI CUNEESI RALLY PRESS OFFICE, JADA FERRERO – Carmagnola, 19 April 2024 – Everything is ready for the Historic Rally of the Cuneesi Valleys, scheduled for 17 and 18 May. Registrations, open from 17 April, close on Friday 10 May. Saluzzo will once again be the headquarters of the rally, the Johnny Cornaglia memorial, which will take place on the Occitan roads of Granda. The ancient capital of the Marquisate will be the vital center of the entire event.

Organized by Piero Capello’s Sport Rally Team from Carmagnola, the competition will focus on three distinct routes to be repeated twice, the special stages of Valmala (km 15), Brondello (km 7), and Montoso (km 13.2) with a balanced percentage between ascent and descent. The timed sections, all on Saturday 18 May, will be just over 70 km, on a total route of 243 kilometres.

The competition is valid for the TRZ 1st Zone Rally Trophy, Memory Nino Fornaca, Historic Rally Cup Michelin and Coppa 127 Pro Energy regarding the historic rally, and for the North West Regularity Cup for the regularity rally, a competition that will follow the rally historical.

Departure, Saturday 18 May from 8.01am directly from the Service Park located at the Foro Boario in via Don Soleri 16. Arrival at 6.21pm in Corso Italia – Piazza Vineis, in the historic centre.

Tests carried out successfully, regulations being approved, logistics ready, the time has come to reveal the news. Two out of three timed trials, Valmala and Brondello, will be carried out in reverse compared to the past. “A mini revolution – says owner Piero Capello – to give a new face to the race. Another new feature is the Regularity race, which from this year will be called Rally, with two average speeds, 50 km and 60 km to give those taking part the opportunity to choose the pace at which they want to set the race”. All chronometric measurements will be controlled by GPS which allows them to increase their number and precision. But the most exciting news is the place where the awards ceremony will take place and the parc fermé at the end of the race. Thanks to the active collaboration with the municipal administration of Saluzzo, all this will take place in Corso Italia, the beating heart of the historic, pedestrian, characteristic and commercial centre.

Sports and technical checks on Friday afternoon 17 May, race on Saturday with departure at 8am from the Foro Boario and arrival at 6.23pm in the historic centre.

Last year the race was won by Alessandro Gino and Daniele Michi on BMW M3 Raggruppamento 4, who completed 5 out of 6 of the special stages. There were 65 crews that started on Saturday 29 July 23 from the forum of Saluzzo, finishing with 52.
