Agriculture: Imprudent, our commitment rewarded through video productions for excellent rural development in Abruzzo

(REGFLASH) – L’Aquila, 20 April. Important recognition in Perugia for the Agriculture Department from professionals and EU institutions. Abruzzo was the protagonist in Perugia as part of the competition for the International Journalism Festival where the video productions of rural development created by the EAFRD Management Authorities of the Italian Regions and Autonomous Provinces were awarded. The initiative is promoted by the Umbria Region and the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry (MASAF).

The second edition of ‘RuralCiak’ took place in the evocative Sala dei Notari in the presence of the Representation of the EU Commission in Italy, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry, the Management Authorities of Italian Regions and Autonomous Provinces. The winning Regions of the competition have been decreed, chosen at the sole discretion of a high-profile quality technical jury, made up of professionals from the cinema/direction industry, the world of information and EU institutions.

The awards ceremony featured the Agriculture Department of the Abruzzo Region which received, in the person of the Director of the Department, Elena Sico, the RuralCiak Youth Award recognized by a jury of young students from universities across Italy. The award was presented by a young person, representative of the jury of young university students.

“It is an honor for Abruzzo to be recognized for its video productions on rural development – ​​commented the vice president of the regional council, with responsibility for agriculture, Emanuele Imprudente -. This award confirms our commitment to enhancing our agricultural resources and promote the sustainable development of our rural communities. We thank the jury of young students for this prestigious recognition and we will continue to work for an even more promising agricultural future for our region. We are determined to pursue our mission with even greater commitment promote agricultural development that is sustainable and capable of responding to the challenges of our time, to make territories more welcoming, more attractive and more sustainable”.

In the emotional video “Abruzzo Terra Fertile” the narrative voice of a young farmer from Abruzzo talks about his land and his commitment. The incipit is embellished with a quote from Ennio Flaiano which, with the evocative power of his words, returns an evocative image of our land. While spectacular images of Abruzzo scroll by, the young man continues the narrative underlining his bond with the territory and how, in his commitment to rurality, he has found an ally at his side: the Rural Development Programme, whose mission and vision. The conclusion of the video is dedicated to the agricultural entrepreneurs of Abruzzo who have been beneficiaries of some sub-measures of the Programme. These are the faces of resilience, of those who remain and fight, on the coast and in rural areas: the elderly and young people, the women and men of Abruzzo, fertile land!

The Director of the Department, Elena Sico, also participated as a speaker in the debate held within the competition on the topic: “Reflections: the beauty of the Italian rural landscape and European, national and regional policies to safeguard the territories” together with Franco Garofalo, Rural Development Management Authority of the Umbria Region, Paolo Ammassari, Office Manager of the General Directorate of Rural Development (DISR) of Masaf, Gabriele Iacolettig, EAFRD Management Authority of the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia.
