Year of roots tourism, 76 municipalities financed in Molise. “Highest participation in Italy”

2024, as we now know, is the year of roots. And Molise will participate greatly in this unprecedented national project. In fact, there are 76 municipalities in Molise (more than 55% of the total number of bell towers in the region) eligible for financing. By Decree of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (Maeci), they were named winners of the Public Notice “Call for the creation of cultural activities in favor of Italian descendants in the world to be implemented on the occasion of 2024 – Year of Italian roots” a total of 822 Italian municipalities, all – this is the fundamental requirement – ​​with less than 6000 inhabitants. In fact, 76 of these 822 (a maximum of 850 Municipalities or Unions of Municipalities to be financed, ed.) are our home, or near our home.

In Molise, as is known, the small and very small municipalities are the vast majority and proudly theregional councilor Salvatore Micone (with delegations to Culture, Tourism and Traditions) announces that “Molise recorded a participation percentage of 59%, the highest in Italy”.

Between municipalities there are: Acquaviva Collecroce, Baranello, Bonefro, Busso, Campochiaro, Campodipietra, Campolieto, Casacalenda, Castelmauro, Castellino sul Biferno, Cercepiccola, Civitacampomarano, Fossalto, Gambatesa, Gildone, Guardialfiera, Guardiaregia, Jelsi, Limosano, Lucito, Macchia Valfortore, Matrice , Montagano, Montecilfone, Montemitro, Montorio nei Frentani, Oratino, Palata, Petrella Tifernina, Pietracatella, Pietracupa, Portocannone, Roccasicura, San Biase, San Felice del Molise, San Giovanni in Galdo, San Giuliano del Sannio, Sant’Angelo Limosano, Sepino , Tavenna, Torella del Sannio, Toro, Trivento, Tufara, Ururi, Vinchiaturo. And for the province of Isernia the ranking shows Agnone, Carovilli, Carpinone, Castel del Giudice, Castelpizzuto, Castel San Vincenzo, Castelpetroso, Chiauci, Civitanova del Sannio, Filignano, Forlì del Sannio, Longano, Macchiagodena, Monteroduni, Pescopennataro, Pettoranello, Pietrabbondante, Roccamandolfi, Rocchetta al Volturno , San Pietro Avellana, Sant’Agapito, Sant’Angelo del Pesco, Vastogirardi.

Each of these centers will receive an amount equal to 5 thousand euros, in some cases even higher but which in any case does not exceed 6 thousand eurosand the assigned contribution will be used to create a series of initiatives to be carried out within the framework of “2024 – Year of Italian roots in the world“, i.e. food and wine, cultural and musical activities and events with a view to raising awareness among local communities on the topic of Italian emigration and heritage travel and creating a targeted and integrated tourist offer in the territories aimed at heritage travelers capable of strengthen the bond between Italy and Italian communities abroad and allow Italian-descendants around the world to reconstruct their family history and deepen their knowledge of their culture of origin.

“An important opportunity to be seized, for the people of Molise and for Molise – underlined the Councilor – with the main objective of enhancing the regional identity”.

We remind you that roots tourism was born as a project of the Pnrr as follows: “An integrated strategy for the recovery of the tourism sector in post-covid-19 Italy” to which a total amount of 20 million euros has been allocated, of which the Administration is implementer is the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. And one of the components of the project was precisely “Italian events and the establishment of 2024 as the year of Italian roots in the world”. Hence the Maeci’s warning to which Molise responded practically en masse and with great enthusiasm.
