Last three challenges of the regular season for HC Cassa Rurale Pontinia who are preparing to experience the hottest part of the season. Today at 5pm the Pontinia team will receive a visit from the Italian champions Jomi Salerno in the match valid for the ninth day of the second round of the women’s A1 series handball championship. In the standings Pontinia is currently in third position with 27 points while Salerno leads the standings with 30 points, followed behind by Bressanone and Cassano Magnago, both at 25 points. In the match between Pontinia, led by coach Antonj Laera, and Salerno there are very important points up for grabs for both teams involved.
«Salerno arrives as the underdog because, after the change of technical leadership, it has achieved a series of victories with a clear path made up of convincing successes including the one against Bressanone – explains Giovanni Nasta – For our part, I can say that we manage to recover nervous energy is better against such renowned teams. If we look at the ranking we need points to improve our position in the ranking of the top national championship which sees us equal to Erice but disadvantaged on goal difference. We have to win the remaining games to face the championship play-offs and we are in a phase in which we are trying to recover from some injuries. The team trains well and the group is very solid, it gives us a lot of confidence because all the girls work hard during the week with the right determination and show that they are hungry also because they want to gratify the public. The match between Pontinia and Salerno (free entry) is the third to last of the regular season then HC Cassa Rurale Pontinia will be busy at Cassano Magnago (27 April) and then again at home to finish with Teramo.
