14 cultural sites affected throughout Calabria

The first concert season “Musica e Museo” is underway, promoted by the cultural association “Animula” directed by Claudio Fittante, as part of the project “Expressions of interest presented by third sector bodies for the free use of spaces in museums and places of culture belonging to the Regional Museums Directorate of Calabria for temporary events and initiatives pursuant to art. 70 of Legislative Decree 117/2017.”

Fourteen locations involved including museums, archaeological parks and galleries. The appointments are all concentrated on weekends until the end of May. The first appointment today sees the Archaeological Museum of Lamezia Terme, directed by Simona Bruni, inaugurate the new initiative with the masterclass by Romolo Calandruccio. Researcher, concert performer and teacher, Calandruccio is among the greatest scholars of the figure of Ferdinando Carulli, a nineteenth-century Neapolitan guitarist who is universally known even today and whose methods are normally used by public and private musical training institutes.

Students from institutes belonging to the “Network of State Musical Institutes” promoted by the same association and to which eleven lower and upper secondary schools as well as Afam will also take part in the Masterclass. During the masterclass it will be possible to enjoy a small exhibition of original musical instruments from nineteenth-century lutherie. Before the event, in agreement with the museum management, the public present will visit the environments particularly rich in artefacts and testimonies of the territory.

The second appointment, Saturday 20 April, will be held at 11 am in the Archaeological Museum of Crotone directed by Gregorio Aversa, with the Lametos Guitar Quartet composed of the Masters Michele Francesco De Fazio, Angela Ferraro, Claudio Fittante and Vittorio Viscomi who will present a varied program and captivating with transcribed and original music from the nineteenth and twentieth century repertoire.

Third appointment, again on Saturday 20 April, at 4.30 pm in the National Archaeological Park and Museum of Capo Colonna directed by Gregorio Aversa, with the Lametos Quartet who will present the show again in the splendid museum venue of the much visited Ionian site

Fourth and last appointment of the week, Sunday 21 April, at 5 pm, again in the headquarters of the Lametino Archaeological Museum, with the soprano and guitar duo Giovanna Massara and Gaetano Cinque who will propose the show entitled “The Neapolitan song: intangible heritage of humanity between history and beauty”.
