Atletico Chiaravalle out of the Italian Cup

Atletico Chiaravalle’s dream is already over: GS Pero Milano wins (4-3) the first semi-final of the Italian Cup Serie B Final Four. At the RDS Stadium in Genoa Atletico takes the lead with Donati after just three minutes. The Rosanero, despite having a one-goal advantage, seem to be losing intensity; on the contrary, the Lombard team seemed to increase the pace, so much so that, in the 15th minute, Cascio first equalized and then overtook. We go to rest with Atletico in trouble and Pero ahead 2-1. Upon returning, the rise of the Milanese team continues thanks to an own goal by Donati. The Chiaravalle reaction was not long in coming: Loth took the lead, 3-2. But Pero is more aggressive than ever, while Chiaravalle is in difficulty. The match thus becomes nervous and in the 16th minute De Brito commits his fifth foul. Mister Molinelli tries everything by opting for the goalkeeper and the move seems to prove him right when, with three to go, Atletico has the right opportunity: Annese commits a handball inside the area, penalty kick. De Brito makes a mistake on the spot, so Pero tries to extend it again. With one minute left until the final whistle and the Rosanero attempted their final attack, but the 4-3 scored by De Brito was of no avail with six seconds remaining.

“We leave with regret – says coach Nicolò Molinelli -. Honestly, we played against a team of which I was, we were convinced, superior. Pero was also missing the most representative player, Giuliano, so we also lost an opportunity, but it wasn’t Atletico at its best.” For Molinelli’s girls I return with a bitter taste in my mouth, but there is already a championship to think about and a first place to secure: tomorrow, for the penultimate day, away to Puglia against Città di Taranto. “We must treasure this match, remember it and transform these feelings today into anger in view of the subsequent promotion play-offs.”
